This is Emade, she’s 7years old and a victim of rape. This young girl was violated by their neighbor a man of 52 years fundly called “papa TJ”. Emade reports to HaRO Cameroon after a brief sensitization on sex education with the theme “MY Body Belongs to Me” by the HaRO team.
Little Emade tells HaRO her sad experience “my neighbor whom we usually call papa chichi, called for me in his sitting room and later on sent me into his bedroom to get something for him, then he followed me behind and closed the door, undressed me, removed my pants, laid on the bed and removed his penis. He put me on his stomach and then put his penis inside my vagina, It was very painful and blood started coming out, but I was afraid to shout because I was scared he said he will beat me up. After that, he gave me 25 Francs CFA to buy sweets for myself. All this happened in November 2018 in February 2019 that is two months later, he called me again into his sitting room but I ran away because I did not like what he did to me last time. I was afraid to tell my mother about it until HaRO Cameroon told us in church about the parts of the body that is not supposed to be touched because of this I told them what happened and asked them not to tell my mother because she will beat me”.
HaRO Cameroon has made sure that the necessary clinical test has been carried out. A medico-legal certificate was issued after a series of test was done with results that Emade’s hymen is absent. Other tests on sexually transmitted infections were made and it tested negative.
The alleged rapist is presently under police custody awaiting trial, HaRO Cameroon is not giving up until justice is given to Emade and many others out there who are still to be discovered, or are living in fear, HaRO is calling on you all to speak out “We say No to Gender Based Violence, Violence and Violence Against Children.
